Labor split

/ˌleɪbə ˈsplɪt/ (say .laybuh 'split)

the division of support for the Australian Labor Party that occurred following the 1954 intervention of the federal ALP in the operation of the Victorian branch of the party, especially the role of the Movement led by BA Santamaria, finally leading to the formation of the Democratic Labor Party in 1957.
